Masterplanning - The Campo

Having returned from Venice, it is time to start on a masterplan.

The strategy of the studio is to create a new square in an area of Venice known as the 'Sacca della Misericordia'. A body of water which is presently used as a marina.

Following the urban morphology of the Cannaregio region; long canals which form a 'fish bone' like structure, our response is to continue these lines.
Furthermore, a new campo is proposed as the central point of reference, accessible primarily by water. In effect this inverts the land based campi of Venice.

Working with a series of plaster cast plots, a scheme begins to emerge.
With an intention to create a civic space, the Plaza della Signoria in Florence gives a fantastic precedent.
